John Carpenter Live – A Dream Come True

Last night I went to see John Carpenter perform live. He is currently touring performing themes from several of his films plus tracks from his two non-soundtrack albums Lost Themes and Lost Themes II. To say the night was amazing is an understatement. It was one of my favorite evenings ever. John Carpenter is an idol of mine. When I was a kid I saw The Fog and was both scared and fascinated by it. I watched it over and over. Day Eleven – What horror movie has your favorite make up effects? THE THING (1982) d: John Carpenter I absolutely love John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’. It’s also one of my favorite remakes (which I decided to go with a different title for that upcoming post since this one was perfect for this one) and one of my favorite horror films of the 1980’s.¬† The film is incredible on so many levels. Its look, feel, atmosphere, acting, Ennio Morricone’s score. One key factor is Rob Bottin’s mind boggling amazing special make up effects. One that in my opinion are about the best cinema has ever offered. The alien creature that absorbs living beings and turns into them. Then when threatened can split off into its own form with whatever pieces of the remaining body remain.
