John Carpenter Live – A Dream Come True

Last night I went to see John Carpenter perform live. He is currently touring performing themes from several of his films plus tracks from his two non-soundtrack albums Lost Themes and Lost Themes II. To say the night was amazing is an understatement. It was one of my favorite evenings ever. John Carpenter is an idol of mine. When I was a kid I saw The Fog and was both scared and fascinated by it. I watched it over and over. And now today’s Halloween Horror Movie Challenge question is: Day Six – What is the first horror film you saw on video? THE FOG (1980) d: John Carpenter We bought our first VHS player the day ‘The Fog’ premiered on ABC (!) so I recorded it off of TV and I ended up watching it a ton. As I mentioned in an earlier post I was already in love with horror (thanks to seeing ‘Halloween II’, ‘An American Werewolf In London’, and ‘Creepshow’) but now I had one I could watch over and over. It was new at the time and exciting. And to have a film as great as John Carpenter’s ‘The Fog’ which is so filled with mood and atmosphere made it all the more special for the budding young filmmaker and horror buff.
