To Infinity And Beyond

Posted on

I haven’t posted much lately but not from a lack of things happening but more from there being a lot of things happening. The first half of the year was definitely an all over the place couple of months. The main thing is the new feature film is in Pre-Production. Locations have been (and are still) being scouted. I’ve been doing camera tests to test out different looks. I’ve been using the Sony FS7, which will be the main camera, and the Sony A7RII recording to the Atomos Assassin in Pro Res, which will be a B camera. Everything is being shot in 4K and while the file sizes are huge (going to need a lot of hard drives) it is amazing. I have been waiting years for the time when I could shoot 4K on my own without having to rent very expensive cameras. There are a few more […]

12 Films That Have Stayed With Me

Posted on

On Facebook we tend to get tagged in different things. Luckily I have my settings set to not automatically post something if I’m tagged in it. It saves me the trouble of having to clear out my own page’s wall of free Oakley sunglasses, earn thousands of dollars shopping, or the never ending crowdfunding posts from actors and filmmakers I don’t even know. On occasion some cool posts from friends come along as in this case. My friend Bob got tagged in a post to list the “12 films that stayed with you” which he in turn tagged me to do one as well. Any film list is always a joy and a hardship. Hardship because I tend to put way too much thought into it. One of the rules is not to put too much thought into it which I disobeyed immediately. When I say disobeyed I’m not being […]

The Green Inferno And Movies And Friends Meant A Great Weekend

Posted on

So I had a weekend that turned into the possibility of fun to one of the best all year. I spent Saturday with friends watching a bunch of movies. I haven’t been seeing as many (new) movies as I’d like so I tend to catch up on these hang out days. We saw Mission Impossible Rogue Nation which I thought was great. Considering it’s the fifth in the series it’s still fresh and exciting. I think the decision to use different directors and letting them bring their own uniqueness for each one has made a big difference. Up next was the highly underrated Sinister 2. I’m not sure what people are expecting from the film but I thought it was good for a sequel. Then Hitman Agent 47 which was a fun action film. As you can tell I rarely dislike a film. I pretty much like everything. Finally, at […]

10 Movies That Stayed With Me Even If I didn’t Want Them To

Posted on

I was tagged on Facebook to do a list of movies that have stayed with you. I thought it was a good idea for a blog post. Plus this enables me to ramble on a little. While the original list calls for 15 movies I decided to take it down to 10 and I tweaked it slightly since the films you could pick for the list could be anything and ones that aren’t ones that were disturbing. However, I went ahead and tried to limit it to only doing ones that did disturb me and stayed with me a lot longer than I may have wanted them to. Though it also led me to be impressed by the films even more. This was actually harder to do than I originally thought because I wanted to make sure the reasons why a film stayed with me was for a specific reason. […]

The Music Box Of Horrors 2013

Posted on

I just realized I never did a blog post right after this. I think I was too busy doing the Halloween Horror Movie Challenge. As if one 24 hour horror movie marathon wasn’t enough I was lucky enough to have two in October (you can read about the other one, The Massacre, here). The second one was the Music Box Of Horrors which was at my favorite movie theatre The Music Box Theatre. Beginning on Saturday the 19th at noon and going until noon on Sunday the 20th (actually it went to 1:30 so it was even longer than 24 hours!) it is non-stop horror movies and a celebration of the genre. With the exception of one film, which was a restoration so it was okay with me, all of the films were presented in 35mm original prints. For this kind of event that means a lot to me. Seeing […]
