John Carpenter Live – A Dream Come True

Posted on

Last night I went to see John Carpenter perform live. He is currently touring performing themes from several of his films plus tracks from his two non-soundtrack albums Lost Themes and Lost Themes II. To say the night was amazing is an understatement. It was one of my favorite evenings ever. John Carpenter is an idol of mine. When I was a kid I saw The Fog and was both scared and fascinated by it. I watched it over and over. As I’ve written before I was a huge film fan from a very young age and took great interest in directors which led to me being one. So when I saw a film that struck me, even when I was in single digit age numbers, I wanted to know what else they had done. This led to me seeing Escape From New York, which is one of my top […]

Birthday And Update

Posted on

I know I haven’t been updating too much lately but because there have been a lot of things going on I haven’t had much time. I will be doing more blog posts and also more videos on everything. I will list a couple key things for now. First, I just had another birthday. So there was that. As I mentioned before I did get a new camera, the Sony FS7 4K camera. As always is the case with a new camera there is a learning curve but since I’m coming from a Sony camera to another it isn’t that big. However, the recording format is new for me so there is some learning there. Mainly how to shoot in it correctly and how to work with it in post production. I’ll be getting into that more soon. I have to say it is definitely the best camera I have ever […]

The Music Box Of Horrors 2013

Posted on

I just realized I never did a blog post right after this. I think I was too busy doing the Halloween Horror Movie Challenge. As if one 24 hour horror movie marathon wasn’t enough I was lucky enough to have two in October (you can read about the other one, The Massacre, here). The second one was the Music Box Of Horrors which was at my favorite movie theatre The Music Box Theatre. Beginning on Saturday the 19th at noon and going until noon on Sunday the 20th (actually it went to 1:30 so it was even longer than 24 hours!) it is non-stop horror movies and a celebration of the genre. With the exception of one film, which was a restoration so it was okay with me, all of the films were presented in 35mm original prints. For this kind of event that means a lot to me. Seeing […]

Halloween Horror Movie Challenge Day Twenty-Five And Happy Halloween

Posted on

Happy Halloween everyone!! I hope everyone has a great and fun one whether you’re going out or staying in watching movies. So many options. Though I do have one I always watch. Hence, the last post for the Halloween Horror Movie Challenge. Day Twenty-Five – What is a horror movie you watch every Halloween? HALLOWEEN (1978) d: John Carpenter This one may be on the nose and even obvious but it is my yearly tradition. Every Halloween for the last 14 years (sporadic before that but almost for even ten years prior to that) I watch John Carpenter’s HALLOWEEN. I always end the night with it. So I start watching it between 11pm and midnight so it rings out the holiday for me. For the record there was one year in the last 14 that I didn’t watch it but only because I got to see it on the big […]
