Happy 32nd Anniversary Creepshow

Posted on

Today, November 12th, celebrates the 32nd anniversary of one of my all time favorite films, George A. Romero’s Creepshow. Written by Stephen King and directed by George Romero and featuring an all star cast Creepshow features five “jolting tales of horror” inspired by the old E.C. comics like “Tales From The Crypt” and “The Vault Of Horror”. The film mixes the perfect blend of horror and comedy with portions (like the story “The Lonesome Death Of Jordy Verille”) mixing the perfect blend of camp in as well. When things turn to horror it doesn’t skimp whether it’s grossing us out with some amazing make up effects by Tom Savini or the actual terror of creeping corpses, cockroaches aplenty, or a monster in a crate that scared me so much every dark corner or unopened crate to this day inspires feelings of unease in me. 38 Years Of Jaws

Posted on

Today marks the 38th anniversary of the release of one of my favorite films, Steven Spielberg’s ‘Jaws’. My love of ‘Jaws’ is huge. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I have watched it in my life and it is just as incredible each time. It has entertained and thrilled me time and time again and has inspired me creatively on some level in almost everything I have ever done. The film that almost died a horrible death from setbacks, over budget, a non-working mechanical shark, was saved by a young Spielberg doing all he could to make sure his film continued. I can’t even look at a water filled horizon without, at least for a moment, imagine a fin breaking the stillness. A classic in every meaning of the word.

Happy 35th Anniversary Star Wars

Happy 35th Anniversary to the film that changed my life forever. What can be said that I haven’t said already. I won’t ramble on this time but simply say thank you for what you have done for me ‘Star Wars‘! Some might consider this sacrilege but here is the trailer for the Special Edition re-release from the 20th anniversary in 1997. I love this trailer.   And the one vintage documentary (missing from the recent Blu-ray release unfortunately) that fans like myself love so much. ‘From Star Wars To Jedi The Making Of A Saga‘. How many times did I watch this as a kid.
