I’ve often written of my love of Star Wars. If you’ve known me for longer than 5 minutes then you know this about me. The original 1977 film changed my life. Star Wars is a very personal thing for me but I know no one really knows fully why so I figured it was time I said. When I was 3 going on 4 I saw Star Wars in the theatre and it was the first time I became fully aware of the moving image. I immediately became invested in what was happening on the screen. The profound images of a galaxy far, far away with characters and visuals unlike anything I could imagine. In those moments I fell in love with movies and with visual storytelling. Everything was different for me. I became much more interested when I watched other movies or even TV shows on television. The way […]
30 Day Horror Movie Challenge Part 2 – Day 1 – What horror film started your love of the horror genre? CREEPSHOW (1982) d: George A. Romero I have written about ‘Creepshow’ so many times that most of you reading this are aware of my love of this film. However I don’t think I ever wrote about it in this context before. I was already into horror films before I saw ‘Creepshow’. However what ‘Creepshow’ did was solidify my love of the genre. It cemented it to the point where I was definitely a horror fan. I guess you could say I went from being interested in the genre to just full blown loving it. I wanted to see all of them. Much of my film study early on was coming from horror films and magazines such as Fangoria. The beauty of horror films is they are generally made with […]
Day 1 – Your first horror movie. HALLOWEEN II (1981) d: Rick Rosenthal Not sure if this was actually my first horror movie or not but it was the first one I saw in the theatre. How the hell I convinced my dad to take me to see this at such a young age I will never know but I did. Ironically I wasn’t overly freaked out. I was scared a few times but was more fascinated. My love of movies had already started so there was that part of me that was just intrigued by the film and the way the audience reacted. The funny thing is I saw this one before having seen the original which is one of my favorites. Plus this film still has one of my favorite openings where the neighbor comes out of the house next door asking what’s going on as Donald Pleasance’s […]
I have never hidden my geek-dom over ‘Star Wars’ and, as has already been evident, I am extremely excited over the upcoming Blu-ray releases. Counting down to it I will be randomly posting things whether it’s music tracks or trailers or different things that strike my fancy as my inner child jumps up and down in anticipation. Including a repost of the infamous ‘Star Wars’ post from an old blog about how it inspired me and changed my life. To start things off one of the videos from the amazing ‘Star Wars A Musical Journey’ DVD that was released with the ‘Revenge Of The Sith’ soundtrack with videos compiled with all of the different and amazing themes composed by the genius himself, John Williams. This one featuring the main theme. Enjoy!
