Merry Christmas

My new Sony A7 camera with my new Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 lens.

Merry Christmas everyone! I’m sorry for the lack of updates but I was having some posting problems. Several updates including news on the new short film coming soon. I’ll save those for its own post.

A few quick things. I invested in a couple of new pieces of gear to get ready for both the short films and upcoming work. A couple new lenses including a new Sigma zoom lens (pictured above) and a very cool wide angle lens. While I’m still getting used to working with it I got a Glidecam to do steadicam shots. Adjusting it takes time because it needs to be calibrated perfectly for it to work correctly but boy do the shots look nice. I’m also moving more towards LED lights as they really work well for what I do. Not only for the low power consumption but the changing of color temperature. Truly amazing.

Also pictured above is my new Sony A7 camera. My Sony FS700 is my video camera and it is incredible. I want to move more into photography. Outside of being an amateur anyway. I have always loved photography but with the worlds of photography and digital filmmaking blending together more and more I have been able to be in the photography world more than I used to. Staying with Sony allows me to also use the same lenses for both cameras so there is plenty of crossover. I have to say the A7 is one amazing camera.

I’ll save the rest for another post. I hope everyone has a really wonderful Christmas. I bought myself something fun this year. I love Star Wars (as is evident in many posts here) and I love Legos. The two together are like the perfect match for fun. Plus I love to photograph them in dramatic ways. Plus it keeps me with a child’s imagination. Something I never want to lose.
