Flashback Weekend And Wizard World Chicago

Sorry for the lack of posts but things have been busy. But even then still no excuse so a couple of posts coming.

In August I not only had a birthday but not one but two conventions in the same weekend. My main one was Flashback Weekend which is a horror film convention. Across the street from the hotel where it was at is the convention center which had Wizard World. I wasn’t originally going to go to Wizard World (mainly because it is really expensive) but they announced a guest that I could not say no to. One of my idols, Robert Rodriguez. So I went for him. Since I was going for him I figured I should get what I’ve also wanted for a long time now. A picture with the man himself, Stan Lee.

Me with director Robert Rodriguez.

Robert Rodriguez was just as amazing as I hoped he would be. He took the time to talk to me and didn’t rush me through the autograph. I told him what his book meant to me and it was just a really special moment for me.

My friends who run Celeb Photo Ops were doing the photo ops so I knew they would be great so I was happy to get the one with Rodriguez and the one with Stan Lee.

Me with Stan “The Man” Lee.
Me with Robert Rodriguez. He is very tall. And I am very short.

Meanwhile at Flashback Weekend I got to meet so many wonderful people. Including a cast reunion with the main people from one of my all time favorite films ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ plus one of my other idols filmmaker George A. Romero. Meeting Romero and Rodriguez in one weekend. I’m surprised I didn’t explode from geek overload.
Plus some amazing people like the great Tom Atkins whom I have wanted to meet for so long. I have the pictures posted in my Photos page.

Once again my friends came over to do a special photo op with the cast of ‘Dawn Of The Dead‘ and George Romero. No way I’m saying no to that.

Me with the great George A. Romero, David Emge, Gaylen Ross, Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger from Dawn Of The Dead.

At the end of the weekend I grabbed my favorite lens, my Voigtlander 50mm F/1.1, and shot some pictures. Most of them are on my Photos page too. I asked some of the guests if I could take their picture including, what might be my favorite photo I’ve ever taken, this one of George Romero.

DSC06967I had an amazing weekend. I found some amazing original posters which I have wanted for so long including an original ‘Last House On The Left‘, ‘Shock Waves‘, and ‘Fright Night‘, and some original ‘Suspiria‘ lobby cards. Until the next one.
