‘The Avengers‘ just came out on video and it is a really fun movie. What I really like that Marvel did was create the single movie versions for the main characters having portions of their respective stories also having elements which come into play in this film. That alone is a big gamble because what if the other films didn’t do well? Luckily they did and we get this film. However you don’t have to have seen the other films to understand this one. It helps flesh things out and to familiarize yourself with the characters but not essential. I admit I am not overly knowledgeable of the comic books to a certain degree which only speaks more about the film because someone not coming with the knowledge is able to enjoy the film and not sit there lost. Needless to say a sequel is already in the works from […]
Last week I was lucky enough to catch one of my favorite films on the big screen. And I mean really big screen as in IMAX. On the heels of the blu-ray release there was a limited run in IMAX theatres of ‘Raiders Of The Lost Ark‘. In the last couple of years I have seen it in theatres three times. The first was as a midnight show of an old print which brought out fans and was a full audience cheering it on. The other was last year as part of its 30th anniversary screening in 2K digital. And now in full IMAX. Definitely one of those titles I think I have owned on every format including VHS, laserdisc, DVD, and come tomorrow, blu-ray. Here is the trailer for the IMAX release. On the Blu-ray of the ‘Star Wars’ films that was released last year there was an extra disc that included some of the older documentaries which I love. I remember them as a kid. There was one made for each film of the original trilogy with C-3PO and R2-D2 hosting the first. Mark Hamill hosting the second. Carrie Fischer the third. However, there was one that was made right after ‘Return Of The Jedi’ that was about making all three of the films. While the information might seem redundant after the inclusion of the three which concentrate on each individual film there is still stuff in it that is not in the others. Plus the nostalgia reason alone is enough to hopefully warrant the inclusion of ‘From Star Wars To Jedi The Making Of A Saga‘ on a future release. It’s a fan favorite and one that many of us […]
