A New Website And Portfolio Coming

Posted on

Over the next couple of months the website will be going through an overhaul. At times it may be offline briefly during the transition. I have been horribly busy and am finishing up three projects so when they are completed I will be editing a new reel together. It is long overdo. So much to add to it. As some of you know I will be adding more photography options for hire. I was staying more in the film and video arena but I have had such amazing experiences I have decided to pursue those options as well. There will be a whole gallery of photos added when the new website design is up. Thank you all for the support. There is a lot going on and I am excited for the new opportunities coming.

My New Reel

Posted on

With everything going on I forgot to post here (I posted it everywhere else) the latest cut of my reel. I wanted people to not only see the work I can do but also know who they are hiring. Here is my new reel. A Vimeo version will also be coming soon.

New Reel In The Works

Posted on

Sort of long overdo but I am finally working on a new reel for myself. The last one I did was like three years ago. As soon as it is done I will post it. Plus I will be recompressing and adding videos to the Video section. Trailers, clips, etc. I’m pretty excited for the new reel. Not only for it to showcase my work (and hopefully get more) but also because I am doing something new with it. I don’t want it to be the usual here are some shots over music. I hope it works as I think it might. Plus there will be some news regarding the upcoming short film. I’m keeping info a little on the low end right now but there will be updates very soon. Also hopefully some short documentary projects that I have been wanting to do for a long time. If anyone […]

New Year New Things New Ideas

Posted on

A late post I know. So, Happy New Year everyone! I know. By this point who cares. However, a new year began and while I don’t determine things based on the change of a calendar I do take the opportunity to start new things if needed. This year many areas of my life needed something new. One key area was to get a new camera. This was long overdo and had been in the works for a long time. I decided to pull the video trigger and go ahead and get the camera I had been eyeing. After much (and I do mean MUCH) research and deciding what worked for my needs I decided to go with the Sony NEX FS700. My first real interchangeable lens video camera. While I will invest in really good lenses over time (as they are quite expensive) I did go with glass I can […]

UPDATED: Philip Bloom’s Sony FS700 Review Is Up

Posted on

UPDATE: Part 1 and 2 of the video are now up and below. A cinematographer I admire a great deal is Philip Bloom. He does a lot of sharing of knowledge of shooting and his thoughts on different cameras. Over at his website he is reviewing a pre-production model of the new Sony NEX FS700 camera which I am very interested in. Part 1 of his video review is up. Be sure to check out his website here and visit his post with the review here with some extra clips as well. I have also embedded the review video below:   Part 2 has been added.

Emergency Department Video

Posted on

One of our videos was recently posted on YouTube that we have done for Centegra Health Systems (one of our clients). One of our last projects from the end of last year which showcases their new emergency area in their McHenry hospital. We shot this in a day (including getting pick up shots for another video in a completely different department!) and once again Kirk did a great job editing it.

Excitement/Disappointment Of New RED Camera Scarlet

Posted on

RED has, after three years, released their new camera the “Scarlet“. For those unaware, RED has become the major company in digital filmmaking cameras. Their Red One camera revolutionized the professional digital filmmaking market with several filmmakers shooting big budget Hollywood productions with it. Recently they released the Epic camera which is even more transforming in the resolution it can produce. Films like the now in production ‘The Hobbit’ are being shot on it. Many filmmakers of all stripes have been eagerly awaiting to shoot with a RED camera. These have been professional cameras which means that they are an expensive endeavor. The Red One brain (which is basically just the body of the camera) is around $25,000. The Epic is around $40,000 for the brain. Once you add on all of the add ons like recording options, lenses, monitors, etc., you are easily adding on tens of thousands of […]
