YouTube Channel Re-Launch Is Underway

Posted on

For the longest time I have been debating re-launching my YouTube channel, which I call “Vague Ramblings”, and turn it more into a full time venue. I know a few people who make a living being content creators and the fact is I have always loved making videos for it and between other projects there can be a lot of downtime which also means no means of income. Why not do both? Create content and (hopefully) make a living at it? So I put a lot of thought into it and decided it’s the way to go. Unfortunately the move happened around the time I was planning to re-launch the channel. That move turned into a bit of a nightmare with so many issues dealing with the moving company, buying/selling, and even hurricane Harvey. Even as the dust settled there were other issues that kept pushing back the time […]

Overdo Update

Posted on

A long overdo update. I’ve been busy with a lot of work and projects plus I had a bad cold which meant not a lot of time for blog updates. While finishing current projects (three total not including my YouTube channel videos) I will then transition to redesigning the website and editing my new reel. So I will be welcoming 2017 with a brand new website. I also have a lot of catching up to do because it’s been a good couple of months. I’ve met some great people and the plans for next year are so far on track. A lot coming for the new year but before I get there I will be looking back on this past year. Most likely in my YouTube videos which I will also post here. I’m still around and getting ready for a lot in 2017. In case you don’t follow me […]

12 Films That Have Stayed With Me

Posted on

On Facebook we tend to get tagged in different things. Luckily I have my settings set to not automatically post something if I’m tagged in it. It saves me the trouble of having to clear out my own page’s wall of free Oakley sunglasses, earn thousands of dollars shopping, or the never ending crowdfunding posts from actors and filmmakers I don’t even know. On occasion some cool posts from friends come along as in this case. My friend Bob got tagged in a post to list the “12 films that stayed with you” which he in turn tagged me to do one as well. Any film list is always a joy and a hardship. Hardship because I tend to put way too much thought into it. One of the rules is not to put too much thought into it which I disobeyed immediately. When I say disobeyed I’m not being […]

Happy Birthday Akira Kurosawa

Posted on

I’m sending a special Happy Birthday to Akira Kurosawa. A film director that is arguably one of the greatest filmmakers in film history who helped define and shape films and one that has inspired me greatly. Kurosawa was a filmmaker, much like Alfred Hitchcock, who knew how to blend the personal expression with the entertainment aspect of movie making. His films are just as intimate as they are entertaining. His style is almost perfect where every frame could be captured and hung on the wall as a piece of art. He knew the power of the frame and utilized it like so few others. His artistry is so powerful that a friend of mine and I always said that if either of us ever felt like we were too full of ourselves as filmmakers all we had to do was watch a Kurosawa film and we would be humbled awfully […]

Happy 2016

Posted on

Happy 2016 everyone! Last year was a bit of a mixed bag for me but luckily there is so much going on this year that it will truly be a major turning point in my life. I am way behind in not only blog posts but videos as well. I still need to post my 2015 year in review video which I am hoping to get that up within the week. I am currently doing five(!) projects at once plus I lost a week and a half from being sick. 2015 ended on a weird note. While announcements and such will be made in a bit there is definitely much to be thankful for last year and there is so much in the works this year it is almost mind boggling. Time to get back to work but news, updates, and videos are all in the works. Here’s hoping the […]

Star Wars: Why It Is Personal

Posted on

I’ve often written of my love of Star Wars. If you’ve known me for longer than 5 minutes then you know this about me. The original 1977 film changed my life. Star Wars is a very personal thing for me but I know no one really knows fully why so I figured it was time I said. When I was 3 going on 4 I saw Star Wars in the theatre and it was the first time I became fully aware of the moving image. I immediately became invested in what was happening on the screen. The profound images of a galaxy far, far away with characters and visuals unlike anything I could imagine. In those moments I fell in love with movies and with visual storytelling. Everything was different for me. I became much more interested when I watched other movies or even TV shows on television. The way […]

Update For March

Posted on

I haven’t posted in awhile but things have gotten a little hectic. There was work that needed attention plus some family issues not to mention some car problems and even an ear infection. Before you know it several weeks have passed. Where are things now? I am getting myself mentally prepared for the new script which I will start writing any day now. It’s hard for some people to understand but I compare it to an actor getting ready for a role. I need to really feel the story I’m creating so I sit with it for awhile until I can access it at a moments notice. I find music to listen to while I write. This is important for me. I look for music that creates the mood I’m needing. When I put that music on I am immediately transplanted right into the world I have created and can […]
