Halloween Treats – Halloween II

“Hey, what’s going on out here?” “Call the police! Tell the sheriff I shot him! Tell him he’s still on the loose!” “Who? Is this some sort of joke? I’ve been trick or treated to death tonight.” “You don’t know what death is.”

Halloween Treats – Halloween III Season Of The Witch

Posted on

The initial maligned ‘Halloween III Season Of The Witch‘ has found its fans over the years who see that just because it lacked the iconic Michael Myers did not mean it was a bad film. An attempt at creating an annual horror film that takes place at Halloween could have worked had they dropped the ‘Halloween’ title and just called it ‘Season Of The Witch’. But hindsight is always 20/20 as they say. The key is the film has garnered its following and with the recently released special edition Blu-ray and DVD of it from Scream Factory it will also find a new generation of fans. Giving it an ongoing legacy for Halloweens to come. Here is the trailer: Here is the infamous jingle from the film which has, in itself, become a Halloween tradition. Warning the flashing pumpkin is constant through the whole 90 seconds.

Halloween Treats – The Beyond

This weekend I’ll be going to a 24 hour horror movie marathon at The Music Box Theatre here in Chicago. The line up of movies is great but one of the highlights for me is definitely seeing Lucio Fulci’s ‘The Beyond‘ for the first time on the big screen. Next to ‘Zombie‘ it’s my favorite Fulci film. So as a Halloween treat here is the trailer!

Halloween Treats – Monster Mash

Posted on

A new thing I’m doing this Halloween is “Halloween Treats” which is just a random fun post about something Halloween related. It might be a horror movie trailer or funny picture or in this case a piece of music. Some days there might be five posts while others only one. For the first one I am posting the Halloween favorite Monster Mash by Bobby ‘Boris’ Pickett only this is one of someone’s house where they had the lights timed out to the song. I think it’s pretty cool. I might be annoyed if I was their neighbor and this was happening all night but I’m not so it’s cool. Here is Monster Mash in lights!

It’s Halloween Time

Posted on

It’s that time of year again as we all gear up for Halloween. It’s nice to see more and more people embrace the fun nature of it. October in many ways is my favorite month though I dread the oncoming cold weather. However I do enjoy the changing leaves, the Halloween decorations, and, as a horror fan, it’s the one time of year where scary movies abound not just in theatres but on TV and even on video as companies take the opportunity to release catalog titles. It’s the time to have fun and celebrate the spooky, scary, and horrifying plus the intake of excesses of candy.

30 Day Horror Movie Challenge – 30

Day Thirty – What is your (or one of) favorite horror movie? THE EXORCIST (1973) d: William Friedkin Granted I would say ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ is my first favorite but a very close second is definitely ‘The Exorcist’. The film that no matter how many times I have seen it over all of these years it still scares me more than anything. In fact, even preparing this blog post was giving me the creeps. The story of a young girl (Linda Blair) getting possessed and her agnostic mother (Ellen Burstyn) turns to doctors for answers for the fear of a mental disorder. But test after test reveals that her problem is not in her brain but her soul as a demon has taken possession. Turning towards an also doubting Church she seeks help from a priest (Jason Miller) having a crisis of faith after the passing of his mother. […]
