So I had a weekend that turned into the possibility of fun to one of the best all year. I spent Saturday with friends watching a bunch of movies. I haven’t been seeing as many (new) movies as I’d like so I tend to catch up on these hang out days. We saw Mission Impossible Rogue Nation which I thought was great. Considering it’s the fifth in the series it’s still fresh and exciting. I think the decision to use different directors and letting them bring their own uniqueness for each one has made a big difference. Up next was the highly underrated Sinister 2. I’m not sure what people are expecting from the film but I thought it was good for a sequel. Then Hitman Agent 47 which was a fun action film. As you can tell I rarely dislike a film. I pretty much like everything. Finally, at […]
Some friends and I decided to make a trip to Pittsburgh and go check out some locations used in various George A. Romero (one of my idols) films. The main one being the Monroeville Mall where ‘Dawn Of The Dead‘ was made. A lot of these locations are changing so I wanted to see them before most of the recognizable things were gone. Going from Chicago to Pittsburgh is a good 8 hours so the drive was long but once we got there it was hard to hold in the excitement. We stayed at a hotel about 15 minutes from the mall. My room for the weekend. Saturday was mainly the mall. So most of the day was spent at the Monroeville Mall. I tried finding screenshots to try and match up as best I could some of the places. We parked by Macy’s. And under the famous number 30 […]
I hope everyone had a really great and happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for many things including my family, my friends, my job, my dreams, and my girlfriend who is the love of my life. As the years pass I find myself not wanting to change much about the Thanksgiving meal. Certain things get tweaked but overall it remains the same and I like it. Almost all of the recipes are family recipes. They may not have modern panache but they are delicious and filling. It’s one of those times where I don’t want anything new or fancy. I want my traditional Thanksgiving. Sometimes the most basic things are what we want, and even need, the most. All my best to all of you.
Every October I go to the Music Box Massacre. A 24 hour movie marathon of horror films. There is always a guest or two in attendance but it’s a celebration of movies on the big screen. All original prints and a theatre filled with almost 750 people. I always have a great time and this year was no different. I get to hang out with friends and see all kinds of movies. Some for the first time while others just the first time on the big screen. This year’s guest was none other than the “Godfather Of Gore” Herschell Gordon Lewis. The filmmaker behind ‘Blood Feast‘, ‘Two Thousand Maniacs‘, and the film they showed this year ‘The Wizard Of Gore‘. Highlights for me at this year’s event was seeing the original ‘Halloween‘ for the first time on the big screen screen. Plus seeing ‘Poltergeist‘, Lucio Fulci’s ‘Gates Of Hell‘ (aka […]
So, last week was my birthday. I should have posted about it but luckily I was busy. Since it fell on a Wednesday this year it meant the possibility of working on a shoot was pretty good and indeed there was a shoot. Personally I was happy. I like that I’m working pretty regularly now. In this business that is a luxury believe me. I was able to spend the evening with a good buddy of mine and reminisce about old times. And I was bombarded with so many sweet and thoughtful birthday wishes on my Facebook wall. So many from people I don’t even know. So while uneventful on the one end it was actually quite perfect. Went to the Flashback Weekend convention recently. Expect a long overdo blog post on that coming. Plus updates on films, projects, movies, n’ stuff.

I just want to take a moment and send out a special congratulations to one of my best friends (whose privacy I will respect and not say his name) on getting engaged. I literally could not be happier for him. I will be the best man at his wedding which I consider a huge honor. Congratulations buddy!
