Merry Christmas

Posted on

Merry Christmas everyone! I’m sorry for the lack of updates but I was having some posting problems. Several updates including news on the new short film coming soon. I’ll save those for its own post. A few quick things. I invested in a couple of new pieces of gear to get ready for both the short films and upcoming work. A couple new lenses including a new Sigma zoom lens (pictured above) and a very cool wide angle lens. While I’m still getting used to working with it I got a Glidecam to do steadicam shots. Adjusting it takes time because it needs to be calibrated perfectly for it to work correctly but boy do the shots look nice. I’m also moving more towards LED lights as they really work well for what I do. Not only for the low power consumption but the changing of color temperature. Truly amazing. […]

Flashback Weekend And Wizard World Chicago

Posted on

Sorry for the lack of posts but things have been busy. But even then still no excuse so a couple of posts coming. In August I not only had a birthday but not one but two conventions in the same weekend. My main one was Flashback Weekend which is a horror film convention. Across the street from the hotel where it was at is the convention center which had Wizard World. I wasn’t originally going to go to Wizard World (mainly because it is really expensive) but they announced a guest that I could not say no to. One of my idols, Robert Rodriguez. So I went for him. Since I was going for him I figured I should get what I’ve also wanted for a long time now. A picture with the man himself, Stan Lee. Robert Rodriguez was just as amazing as I hoped he would be. He […]

Rain Time Tea Time

Posted on

I’m trying to do more fun experimental videos and exercises and today was a good example. It was raining pretty hard which was bumming me out. Instead of moping about it (anymore than I already was) I decided to grab my camera and shoot some of the rain in slow motion. Nothing fancy. I didn’t want to use my tripod or lights. Keep it as basic as possible. Just some cool slow motion shots at 240 fps (which caused the flicker on the indoor shots). I was making some tea at the time and as I went to the back door the tea pot was boiling so instantly I thought of a mini video. So within half an hour I shot everything in the video (plus a couple shots not used). Then edited it together and here it is. I admit it’s nothing amazing. It was just a short test […]

George Romero Film Trip

Posted on

Some friends and I decided to make a trip to Pittsburgh and go check out some locations used in various George A. Romero (one of my idols) films. The main one being the Monroeville Mall where ‘Dawn Of The Dead‘ was made. A lot of these locations are changing so I wanted to see them before most of the recognizable things were gone. Going from Chicago to Pittsburgh is a good 8 hours so the drive was long but once we got there it was hard to hold in the excitement. We stayed at a hotel about 15 minutes from the mall. My room for the weekend. Saturday was mainly the mall. So most of the day was spent at the Monroeville Mall. I tried finding screenshots to try and match up as best I could some of the places. We parked by Macy’s. And under the famous number 30 […]

When There Is No More Room In Hell … I Go To The Mall

Posted on

This month seems to be all about my top three favorite films. It started with May 4th which has become national Star Wars Day (May The Fourth Be With You). In the middle of the month I saw for the first time a really amazing documentary on TV on the making of ‘The Godfather’. The month ends with my friends and I taking a trip to Pittsburgh to visit the Monroeville Mall. Also known to fans all over as the ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ mall. Granted it may just be a regular mall to most people (and it is) but to horror fans over the world it was the setting to arguably one of the greatest horror films (and in my opinion greatest films in general) ever made. I will be in half professional mode as I am packing up my photography gear so I can photograph the mall and […]

New Reel In The Works

Posted on

Sort of long overdo but I am finally working on a new reel for myself. The last one I did was like three years ago. As soon as it is done I will post it. Plus I will be recompressing and adding videos to the Video section. Trailers, clips, etc. I’m pretty excited for the new reel. Not only for it to showcase my work (and hopefully get more) but also because I am doing something new with it. I don’t want it to be the usual here are some shots over music. I hope it works as I think it might. Plus there will be some news regarding the upcoming short film. I’m keeping info a little on the low end right now but there will be updates very soon. Also hopefully some short documentary projects that I have been wanting to do for a long time. If anyone […]
